Hi! My name is Leslie Truex and I’m The Pajama Mama!

Click here for a PDF of Leslie’s Media Kit.

It probably seems obvious how I got my name, but I’m going to share the story anyway. I’m a work-at-home mom who spends a great deal of time in her p.j.’s. In fact, many days I don’t get dressed until my kids are about to get off the bus! You may wonder, “Why get dressed at all at that point?” As much as I love the comfort of working in my pajamas, I do feel like I should put myself together at some point during the day. And because my kids make fun of me:) Finally, while I don’t believe in all that stuff about it being my job to keep my hubby happy by always looking my best, I do like the appreciative glances I get from him when I put some real clothes on and comb my hair.

I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to work at home and wear whatever is most comfortable. In Virginia, it gets too hot and humid in the summer to wear anything but shorts and a t-shirt. And it gets too cold in the winter to leave the house especially for something like a job. I’d rather stay home in my jammies or sweat pants.

Working at home allows me to have many more perks that just throwing out my pantyhose. I was able to be home when my children were little and now that they are in school, I’m here when they get off the bus. I can get them to all their activities, many of which start before 5 p.m. (how do working parents manage that???). If my kids get sick, I can stay home with them without asking permission from a boss or losing leave time as I would in a job. And finally, I can take a day off or even a week off any time I want. That part I love!

I don’t want you to have an impression that I spend the day napping, eating bon-bons, and watching soaps. While I can take time off and schedule my day as I please, I also have to work. Like most people, I work Monday through Friday, or sometimes Monday through Thursday if I’m productive. I sometimes work weekends if I wasn’t productive or have lots to do.  I work anywhere from 3 to 6 hours a day depending on what needs to be done.

About the Book

The Work-At-Home Success Bible is the book I wish I’d been able to read when I first wanted to work-at-home. Beyond a telling you how to set up a business, the book provides insights, tips and even a plan of action so that you can actually achieve your work-at-home goal. It covers:

  • The reality of living and working at home.
  • How to get spousal and kids’ support of your work-at-home dream.
  • How to afford to work-at-home (its easier than you think!)
  • The best options for working at home
  • How to create or find a legitimate work-at-home job.
  • What home business options (scratch, biz op, franchise, etc) is the best option for you.
  • How to make money online.
  • How to make it all legal and organized.
  • How to create a plan that works.
  • Plus hundreds of telecommuting resources and home business tools.

I can’t do the work for you, but if you learn about working at home, heed the book’s warning and advice, and take action, there is no reason why you can’t be a work-at-home success.

How I Make Money At Home

Current my “jobs” include:

  1. Contract telecommuting Adoption Social Worker
  2. Work-At-Home Success website which earns income through affiliate marketing and advertising.
  3. Manage 3 active blogs which also earn income through affiliate marketing and advertising.
  4. Writing – With the success of the Work-At-Home Success Bible, I hope to write more books in the future.
  5. Promoting the Work-At-Home Success Bible … my top job right now!

One of the things that makes me a unique person to share work-at-home information with you is that I’ve had many other successful (and sometimes unsuccessful) home-based careers including:

  1. Telecommuting as school program coordinator
  2. Adoption social work (previous to my current work, I worked with another agency providing similar services)
  3. Contract B2B sales – People are right, sales is no fun, but it still beats a “real” job.
  4. Real Estate Agent – I got tired of working weekends and left this after 3 years.
  5. Website Design and Management – I found I like working on my own sites more than on other people’s.
  6. Contract work in writing, research, customer service and more. These jobs I found online!
  7. Home business opportunities in direct sales – I’ve been involved in a couple of companies but for the most part, I wasn’t willing to do parties. I still be long to one program however I’m not actively building a business (which is dumb since I still get a check) but I do support members of the group by helping with marketing.

My Other Online Adventures

  1. Work At Home Success - This site was started in 1998 and was the first site to offer legitimate work-at-home jobs via the Internet! It’s currently undergoing a total make-over, facial and all. But all the great content is still there.
  2. Work-At-Home Success News and Reviews Blog - This is the blog for Work-At-Home Success where I post jobs every weekday as well as work-at-home news and information including scam alerts, work-at-home ideas and more.
  3. BetterLivingOnTheWeb – This is a blog that finds and shares great online resources (most of which are free) to help make life easier at work and at home!
  4. PajamaMamaLiving- This is new version of The Pajama Mama blog (which had too many tech/hack problems) so its new and filled with stories, ancedotes, tips, and day-in-the-life information on being a pajama mama.
